Actually, I did this segment on Tuesday and it was fun – one of those amazing, scenic, interesting days that make the mundane and/or challenging days worthwhile. The beaches and architecture of Santa Barbara with its backdrop of palm trees and mountains is quintessential California!
I also gained a new ‘Sole Sister’ – Andrea, one of the short track speed skaters I’ve known for a few years, is going to college at UCSB and she walked with me most of the day. It’s been awhile since I’ve paid much attention to speed skating, so it was fun catching up. When we finished the day’s walk, I started the drive home. It was a short night, then a long flight today to visit our son & his family near Atlanta – I’m writing this from Georgia…
My photo of the day is from beautiful Santa Barbara:
As I finish another 120 miles (2 weeks) of walking, I want to thank my host families: Anthony & Alexis (Pismo Beach); Angela & Eddie (Lompoc); and Sandy (Santa Barbara)- also to Dee Dee for lodgings during our walking days – to Dee Dee and Andrea for walking with me as my newest ‘Sole Sisters’ – to Alexis and Sandy for transportation, and to Anthony & Alexis for storing my bike for me!
As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. ~ Ezekiel 34:12
