Happy Veterans Day to all who served! On the way to my start point, the radio station I was listening to played the anthems of all branches of military service. Loved it!
The walking today was almost totally on a bike path that generally paralleled the freeway. I was looking forward to it, but in reality it wasn’t really very scenic. There were only a couple of places where I had an ocean view.
Being off the road did allow me to relax a little more than I normally could. Fisherman’s Wharf was only a few blocks off my route, so I walked over and tarried awhile. It was nice not to have to scramble (or pay) for parking!
After walking, I drove tomorrow’s route, which passes Veteran’s Park in Monterey. The park was lined with flags in honor of Veteran’s Day. Beautiful!
It’s really cool to hear what other churches do to reach out to their communities. My current host church goes to laundromats with a pocketful of coins and they pay for people’s laundry – then chat with them while it’s processing. 🙂
“Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.” ~ Psalm 33:20-22
