As I mentioned yesterday, we got a ride to our start point from Donna – so we did get to start at Ah-Pah Trailhead, and a couple of hours earlier than if we had taken the bus!
Spotlights This Week:
Always: Hope Chapel Missions
Charity Spotlight: Intervarsity Christian Fellowship
Church Spotlight: Crescent City Foursquare Church – Crescent City, CA
Church Spotlight: Living Waters Foursquare Church – Brookings, OR
The mist at the start of the day was so heavy that we almost brought our ponchos, but the majority of our walk was on the heavily (and beautifully) redwood-forested Newton B. Drury Scenic Byway, so the tree cover shielded us from the dampness for the most part. The area is at least 30 miles from the nearest sizeable towns, so for the first couple of hours we often had the road to ourselves – it was so peaceful!
Our route today and for the next 2 days is in elk country, and they really can be seen often. We saw 4 different herds – 2 on our walk, and 2 more as we scouted tomorrow’s route.
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights. ~ Psalm 18:33
